Description

Theun Okkerse Flag for (a federal) Belgium, an exploration

The colours of the Belgian flag represent an undivided country. The political reality appears to have overtaken this unity. The positions taken by the regions may lead to a changed state system. Belgium as a country redefines itself. If that comes to pass, the symbols of the state - the flag and the arms -, will have to be redefined.

What will these look like? This is a first step.

The colours of the federal flag have been taken from the Flemish and Walloon flags: the black for Flanders, the red for Wallonia. Yellow for the comined territory so the federal Belgian state.
